NORTHERN KENYA CAUCUS is a non-political,
not-for-profit humanitarian relief organization that was founded by local
professionals and traditional leaders from communities from within Mandera and
Wajir Counties of Northern Kenya. NORTHERN KENYA is a region where natural
disasters occur and our work is set to save lives with food, medical care,
education and to act as an intermediary between the people and agencies, be
they Donor, Governments, NGO’s in creating an atmosphere of short term to
long-term recovery programs. NORTHERN KENYA CAUCUS is
abbreviated as NORKENYA
NORKENYA was created to find lasting change and solutions to the
people of Northern Kenya and those who are around them. Being an Indigenous and
community based organization, it addresses issues affecting communities
including alleviating poverty through implementation of sustainable community
based livelihood programs that are catered for ultimate self-reliance and
sustainable development with specific reference to Long Term Goals for
communities in Northern Kenya.
MISSION & OBJECTIVE
NORKENYA is set to be the region’s leading organization to help the communities attain self sufficiency, survival, peace, protection, development and participation. We are set to inspire communities living in Northern Kenya to tackle their issues and problems practically in a way that will achieve an immediate change and lasting development to their lives. This we do by enhancing their capacities to work with agencies, NGO’s and the Government to achieve their objectives.
VISION STATEMENT
NORKENYA IS committed to the noble idea of creating a fresh reality to the people of Kenya’s North. We will work hard to implement community's developments through various interventions, which have the capabilities of improving the communities lives and that of their Livestock in general. We also work in advocacy, lobbying and providing humanitarian relief and information co-ordination with various UN agencies.
NORKENYA works with Donor agencies, organizations, governments, non-profits and a variety of local partners.
